Freefall with Black Masala
September 2 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Our free fall concert series is back at IX! (It was the Levitt AMP Charlottesville Music Series … now it’s called FREEFALL … free + fall = you get it.) So, put on your dancing boots!
To kick things off, WTJU and the IX Art Park proudly welcome back Black Masala to the outdoor stage for the first of nine free concerts! Washington, DC’s gypsy punk brass band cranks out contagiously danceable funk, soul and eclectic grooves. Their third time at IX!
“Playing a unique mix of punk rock, Balkan brass, Indian bhangra and New Orleans funk, this horn-driven (trumpet, trombone and sousaphone) septet is a guaranteed party-starter.” – WRIR
“Their big-band sound seems able to adapt to any venue … For them, no groove is off limits.” – WRGW
FREEFALL is a free fall art & music festival every Saturday in September and October. Fantastic, “big-sound” festival bands plus art installations, food truck courts, locally-brewed beverages from Three Notch’d Brewing and Potter’s Craft Cider and a mix of community that reminds you what Charlottesville is made of.
